Brain Boxes a Big Hit

Our Brain Boxes have been a big hit with brain tumour families across the country.

Our Brain Boxes have been a big hit with brain tumour families across the country.

Since early July our Brain Boxes have been winging their way to brain tumour families across New Zealand.

These essential care packages have been put together by the hard working volunteers in our Nelson office using products sourced from local businesses.

The feedback has been amazing and we have been genuinely touched by some of the messages of thanks.

“Today we received our Brain Box…it is actually the first at home act of kindness we have received from any organisation since [the] diagnosis. It is a lovely initiative”
~ Olivia

“Thank you to Brain Tumour Support for my awesome Brain Box.... It’s wonderful to know you are there to support my family and me and that you care”
~ Karen

“Thanks team I was so touched by the care package so thoughtfully put together, the quality of the resources available, my support person and personal email from you guys”
~ Jasmin

“You’ve made her day thank you. It’s the hardest thing ever and I’m so pleased to have found you as you do feel a little lost and helpless most of the time”
~ Nicky

Each Brain Box contains a number of gifts to let patients and carers know that they are not alone in their brain tumour journey, including hand-crafted products from local Nelson artisans. We would like to give a special thank you to the lovely women from the Inner Wheel Motueka Club who donated their time and skill to make the beautiful wheat bags for the Brain Boxes.

Also in the boxes is a set of our Patient Guides which contain essential information and resources to help people navigate their way, from initial diagnosis, beginning treatment, and living well with a brain tumour.

It’s easy to apply for a Brain Box - just fill out a short application form here.

Our sincere gratitude to the Rata Foundation whose generous grant has funded the Brain Box project.
