A Caregiver’s Journey

A Caregiver’s Journey is the personal account of Brain Tumour Support NZ trustee Tania Anstiss, who cared for her husband Adrian throughout his glioblastoma diagnosis.

It is the fourth in the series of comics produced for Brain Tumour Support NZ under a collaborative research project with Professor Neal Curtis of the University of Auckland exploring the use of graphic medicine as a communications and education tool. It was illustrated by award-winning artist Sarah Wilkins.

In A Caregiver’s Journey, Tania describes the emotional ups and downs of the brain tumour journey from the caregiver’s perspective. Adrian was a keen yachtsman and Tania has used this analogy to describe the ebbs and flows of the couple’s journey as they navigated through stormy seas interspersed with periods of calm.
