My name is Roohi (Pratika) Singh. I moved to New Zealand three years ago from India to pursue further studies. I have a Masters in Management, specialising in Human Resources. I’ve been working at Waikato DHB for the last two years in Inventory Management. In June last year, I was involved in a road accident which left me with concussion, lasting for four months. I absolutely understand that this isn’t the same as a brain tumour diagnosis but I feel it has given me an insight to some of the symptoms brain tumour patients suffer from.

I love helping others and making someone smile, it makes my day. I started volunteering for Brain Tumour Support NZ in May 2021. I began as the Brain Box co-ordinator where I put together and send out the Brain Boxes to newly diagnosed brain tumour sufferers. I absolutely love working with Mandy (our Chair) and making sure every person who requests a Brain Box gets one as soon as possible to help them on their journey.

Recently I’ve also started working as Brain Tumour Support NZ’s Volunteer Co-Ordinator. I am thoroughly enjoying my new role and getting in touch with our lovely volunteers. I will make sure I contribute to the best of my abilities and help to make our absolutely brilliant volunteers feel they’re appreciated and taken care of.

Please feel free to contact me if you would like to volunteer, or even if you’re just thinking about it and would like to know more. My email is roohi@braintumoursupport.org.nz
