BTSNZ welcomes Tania Anstiss to the Board

Tania Anstiss

Brain Tumour Support NZ is delighted to announce the newest addition to our Board of Trustees - Tania Anstiss. Hailing from Tamaki Makaurau / Auckland, Tania brings a wealth of experience as a clinical psychologist, a proud mother to three grown children, and a lively grandmother.

Tania's life took an unexpected turn when her husband, Adrian, was diagnosed with a glioblastoma (GBM) brain tumour in 2020. Tragically, Adrian passed away in May of this year. Seeking support as a caregiver, Tania discovered the broader impact of brain tumours on families and caregivers, extending beyond the medical aspects.

Her journey with BTSNZ began during this challenging time. Recognising the need for a holistic approach to brain tumour care, Tania found solace, support, and shared experiences within the BTSNZ community. In a generous spirit of giving back, she has actively contributed to BTSNZ initiatives, including her involvement in the development of the new Brain Tumour Support Kidz webpage, holding a webinar on wellbeing and resilience, and providing training for our Support Friends.

Balancing her professional life between Te Whatu Ora, private practice, and various governance boards (she is the current president of the NZ Psychological Society), Tania brings in-depth experience and insights to BTSNZ. Outside of work, Tania enjoys gardening, reading, staying informed about social justice issues, and leisurely beach walks with her dog.

In this shared journey, Tania looks forward to continuing our collective commitment to understanding, supporting, and positively impacting the lives of those touched by brain tumours.

Nau mai, haere mai Tania! We're privileged to have you on board.
